Dear Sir,
I write to you with so much pain and grievance in my heart. I am also aware that you can use your office as the Editor of this delectable website to make the government to be aware that the condition of the roads in my area and its environs is a nightmare.
The roads are so bad that all it has brought to the area is a negative change. There can’t be progress in a community where there is no good road that one can point at. It is a complete “eye sore” and disaster.
A journey that ought to take about forty-five minutes can take about two hours due to this Impediment. You will agree with me, that no same person would want to drive rough on these kinds roads.
Also, transport fare has doubled as a result of these bad roads. I really do not blame the drivers of commercial vehicles or okada or tricycle riders, as I am sure the reason they hike the fare is because they spend more money on repairing their buses, bikes and tricycles due to the bad roads.
They also repair it almost all the time.
The one that pains the most is that no weather is suitable or favorable for these roads. Rainy, dry or harmatan season, all you get is mud and dust. On a rainy day, one is certain to have mud stain one’s body. The dry or harmattan season comes with dust all over one’s body. The road keeps deteriorating.
The government can help us by grading the roads, then tar it. It should also create a drainage system, and not leave it to the residents or the Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) alone. At least part of the duties of the government to the citizens is provision of good roads…It should help us solve this overwhelming problem. Thank you.
