For the entire membership of the Christian Men Fellowship of the Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), the weekend of June 14 and 15, 2919, was one with a difference,  a weekend that cannot be forgotten in a hurry.

It provided them an opportunity for a rare encounter with God, this, in the course of this year’s annual camp meeting, which ran under the theme:  Living By The Word.

Beyond the spiritual refreshing provided by the word of God and the testimonies, the retreat featured other highlights, including a business strategy session for networking, a health talk as well as a physical exercise.

But these were after the fellowship president; Dcn P.C Obi had set the mood for the camp, saying the theme was carefully chosen, in cognisance of the mood of the times.

Dcn Obi referred to the rampant cases of suicide amidst a cloud of hardships, confusion and frustration from across the climes, declaring that the solution for mankind was going back to the word of God, hence the theme.

According to him, the camp was also to enable members reconnect with God in every area of their lives, while leveraging from the impressive membership strength to improve on their different professions and occupations.

Dcn Godwin Enuoyibo, former chairman of the group, prior to taking the prayer of sanctification, first encouraged them not to give in to the accusations of the enemy, but rather understand their righteousness status by virtue of the work of the blood.

He reminded them of the need to have faith without which it is impossible to please God.

Delivering the word for the night, Rev Steve Ahanotu cited the story of Peter the fisher man to sermonise on the importance of developing the capacity to hear from God, and also obedience once He had spoken.

He described the word of God as the only guarantee of safety, in a world of unmitigated evil.

“The world we are live in is evil, and you must be willing to hear from God for you to survive in it. You need to hear from God, and be willing to obey. The Bible says that those who know their God shall be strong and do exploits”, the man of God admonished.

Rev Dennis Kenkwo, Dcn Bola Sofowora, Rev Kayode Odiaka, Dcn James Okoro, Dcn Sam Igbokwe, Bro Ekwueme, Dcn Francis Adetola and Dcn Godwin Amos Akpan took turns to lead prayers on different aspects of the lives of men.

The health talk session, physical exercise and networking segment greatly enhanced the camp.
