Man Who Called Catholic Archbishop Lucifer Wanted In Court

What could have made a man call a Catholic Archbishop Lucifer?  Whatever, he is now wanted in court, following a petition filed there by the man so described.

The complainant in the case, is the president of Zambia’s Patriots for Economic Progress (PEP), – President Sean Tembo.

He is accusing UPND Secretary General, Batuke Imenda of calling him a Lucifer, and has thus began a private prosecution against Imenda.

The Lusaka Magistrate Court which has since summoned Imenda for hearing, accuses him of issuing a hate speech on or about 28th May 2023.

According to a report in the Zambian Observer, the assertion to him as Lucifer at a press briefing held at the UPND Secretariat in Lusaka, and utterances published on various media platforms had gone viral.

These contained hate speech hate speech language towards Archbishop Alick Banda as it referred to him as “the Lucifer of Zambia.

Imenda is expected to appear before Lusaka Magistrate Nsunge Chanda on 25th January 2023.
