This Is Assassination Attempt –FBI On Shooting Near Trump’s Home

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) says it considers as an assassination attempt the shooting in the vicinity of the home of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

It said it was thus conducting an investigation into the matter.

The bureau stated this in a news release which it has also pasted on its official website.

According to the FBI, its agents have arrived in West Palm Beach, Florida, and are “investigating what appears to be an attempted assassination” of Trump.

The US Secret Service confirmed that its agent had opened fire on an armed suspect near the former US president’s golf course.

Eventually, one Ryan Wesley Routh, was arrested  in connection with the attempted attempted assassination and  charged with two firearm counts:

1. counts include possession of a firearm while a convicted felon
2. possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

Accounts say Routh was armed with an AK-47-style rifle and about 300-500 yards away from Trump when members of the former president’s Secret Service detail spotted him.

The suspect was allegedly a few holes ahead of where the president was golfing at the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, officials said.

The assassination attempt on Trump has become a newest cause for concern with presidential elections around the corner – November 5.

The suspect, 58 year old Routh, appeared in federal court Monday, and if convicted of both charges, faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.

A detention hearing has been set for September 23 and the arraignment is set for September 30.
