Pictorial: US Airport Officials Uncover Hidden Guns Inside Packed Chicken

A man who was caught trying to smuggle a pistol onboard a plane by concealing it within raw chicken has been exposed by US air transport officials on social media.

Officers of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at Florida’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport discovered the scheme.

The traveler’s weapon was allegedly discovered before boarding, concealed inside the bird, and wrapped in paper packaging. TSA officers claim that the scheme “wasn’t even half-baked.” officials joked on Instagram.

The perpetrator of the bird plot was not identified by authorities, but photographs shared on Instagram by the TSA showed agents inspecting the bird in an airport screening area before taking out the pistol and unwrapping it.

“The plot chickens as we barrel our way closer to Thanksgiving,” a TSA spokesperson wrote.

“We hate to break it to you here, but stuffing a firearm in your holiday bird for travel is just a waste of time. This idea wasn’t even half-baked; it was raw, greasy, and obviously unsupervised. The only roast happening here is this poor packing choice!”

“Feather you like it or not, there are rules for traveling with guns and ammunition,” the TSA concluded.

Although they must be packed in checked baggage, firearms are permitted on US airlines as long as they are unloaded and stowed in a closed hard-sided container.

The TSA reported that it had removed a record number of guns from travellers at US airports last year. The agency reported that over 85% of those taken were loaded.
