THE AMERICAN DEMOCRATIC ROLE MODEL, CALLED GENERAL WILLIAM WESTMORELAND AND HIS EXAMPLE OF APPEARAING BEFORE CONGRESS IDRIS SHOULD LEARN FROM: 

If Westmoreland, TIME magazine’s “Man of the Year” for 1965, sought to protect Capitalism’s political economic Interest, by preventing the DOMINO THEORY, through armed force, in his capacity as the commander of the American intervention force, known as the Military Assistance Command, against Communist Viet Cong, led by Ho Chi Minh (who eventually won the war) could leave Saigon,where he was headquartered and travel the 14,463 km distance between Ho Chi Minh City to Washington, to appear before Congress, Idris is a poor specimen of Democracy.

(After America lost, the war, Saigon and Gia Định were merged and renamed on 2 July 1976,  Ho Chi Minh City.)

The DOMINO THEORY, was the dominant post World War II, Cold War arms race Strategic thinking of the United States, to the effect that if one country in South East Asia, were allowed to go the way of the communists, all the other countries, like a pack of dominos will go that way.

Lily Rothman on May 1, 2017, under the headline:

…..gave the account of how Gen. William C. Westmoreland, the commander of US forces in Vietnam, left the warfront at the height of the Vietnam debacle to address the US Congress (their National Assembly) yet Idris can’t do same!  She wrote for TIME magazine:

“Week 18: May 5, 1967…As tensions over the War in Vietnam escalated, U.S. military brass made an unprecedented move: Gen. William C. Westmoreland became the first military commander in American history to address a joint session of Congress while the war he was in charge of was still going on. WHY THE INSUBORDINATION OF IDRIS?

-THE FIRST POSSIBLE REASON:

COULD IT BE BUHARI’S PAY BACK FOR HIS 2015 LANDSLIDE VICTORY IN KANO OVER JONATHAN, THAT HAS EARNED HIM THE RIGHT TO DECIDE THE ORDERS HE TAKES?

Idris was the commissioner of police in Kano, at the time of the presidential elections.

-THE SECOND POSSIBLE REASON:

His favoured promotion over and above 30 of his seniors.

Isiaka Wakili, Ronald Mutum, Misbahu Bashir, Ismail Mudashir and Abubakar Haruna, reported on June 22 2016 for Daily Trust, under the headline “BUHARI APPOINTS IDRIS IBRAHIM ACTING IGP” contains the following facts:

“The appointment of a new Inspector-General of Police by President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday has set the stage for early retirement of at least 30 superior officers. President Buhari bypassed no fewer than 30 deputies and assistant inspectors-general of police to name Idris Kpotum Ibrahim – an Assistant Inspector – as the new police boss…..The new police boss was selected from among the eligible senior officers because he was the only one who passed the integrity test secretly conducted by the Presidency, a source said last night…….“Idris has track record of service and that was why he was appointed as CP of Kano in February 2015, even when he was the most junior CP at that time,” he said.”https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/general/buhari-appoints-idris-ibrahim-acting-igp/152151.html

ANALYSIS:

1 Why was he promoted above 30 of his seniors?

2 Why a Secret integrity test by the Presidency?

3 Could this be a strategy of working to the answer?

  -THE THIRD POSSIBLE REASON:

Buhari’s contempt for the legislative arm and the deployment of Idris, like Hameed Ali, the Controller-General of Nigerian Customs Service, and Magu before him as a plan “B” Fascists’ script?

BUT IS BUHARI COMPROMISING DEMOCRACY ON THE ALTER OF FASCISM?

The answer lies in the anthropological words of his ally, Prince Tony Momoh, who said:

“Do you know that what Othman Dan Fodio could not achieve when he was quoted as having said that he would dip the Quoran in the sea is being achieved through stupid politicking by saying that everything that happens in Nigeria is by the Fulani herdsmen?

“Anywhere you go to, people would say we cannot go to farm because of the Fulani herdsmen. This is when as a matter of fact, the Fulani herdsmen are in more danger than any other Nigerian. Do we talk of Igbo armed robbers?

The respected prince was silent on why the Fulani herdsmen named the fourth most deadly terrorist globally are not recognized by Buhari locally by Buhari as a terrorist group.

THE LAST QUESTION:

If Idris is the Hangman’s noose, around the neck of democracy, who then is the hangman?
