And Before The Doctors Came…
And Before The Doctors Came…
It happened at a gathering of church leaders, at a recently concluded African invasion Mission of Dr Mike Okonkwo, presiding Bishop of the Redeemed Evangelical Mission, to Doula Cameroun.
A Nigerian woman, Sis Oluwabukolami Ezekwere, accompanied by her husband had stormed the place, from her base in Younde but with only one thing in mind: to share a story of her encounter with Dr Peace, Okonkwo’s wife, who is the convener of a monthly all-women meeting, the International Woman Prayer Conference (IWPC).
The whole thing played out well before they relocated to Younde. She had taken in, with twin boys, and was supposed to be rejoicing about the development given what conception, not to talk about being pregnant with twin boys – mean in our culture. However, the news that followed from the doctors When it was close to my Expected Date of Delivery (EDD), forced every possible excitement and rejoicing to vanish: the babies are abridged was the verdict.
And Before The Doctors Came…
“This was of great concern to me, my husband and family”, Mrs Ezekwe recollects, adding: “So, we told our pastor’s wife, Rev Chi Mac-Anthony who took me to Bishop Peace for prayers.
“She touched my tommy, prayed a simple prayer asking God to change the position of the babies, and concluded by saying that before the doctors come….
“On the day of delivery, I went to the hospital having contraction, but there was no doctor around. Despite frantic efforts by telephone and other means, no doctors could be reached and none showed up.
“When the situation became critical, a senior nurse asked me a question: “if I tell you to push, will you push?” I said yes.
“ So she took me to the delivery room. When she asked me to push, I did, and just like that, the first baby came out almost folded.
“Before I knew it, the second baby followed and dropped on the floor alive, without doctors, without delay.

“Everything happened according to the word of God, from the mouth of God’s servant: I delivered the abridged twins before any doctor was around. Praise the Lord.
“Not long after the birth of the twins, on one of my husband’s visits to Nigeria, I became pregnant again. This time, I was carrying triplets.

“It was as through at the touch of Bishop Peace, my womb opened for multiple babies. God faithfully saw me through and I delivered the babies – two boys and a girl.
“Then, my husband and I decided that five children was enough. We did family planning and all the needful to prevent another pregnancy, still I became pregnant again. Truly, the touch of Bishop Peace had opened my womb wide for multiple conceptions and deliveries.
Glory be to God. This time, it was one baby boy and our prayers became, “thank you father, it is enough now”.
