They Want To Hijack Our Convention

Sir/Ma,

Permit me to use this medium to bring to the attention of the public, and also the relevant authorities the extortion and harassment that go on at the Agege Underbridge.

It has reached a situation that one is now forced to ask the question -Who will save us from extortion, harassment at Agege Underbridge?.

The way that hoodlums and touts forcefully exhort and harass people there is becoming alarming.

Just last week, a guy was attacked in broad daylight and no one could come to his aid. Earlier within same week, I had witnessed when an instrumentalist on his way, was subjected to harassment by these same hoodlums. It was when I and some others intervened that they let go.

A trader who simply identified himself as Chuks testified that the harassment of the hoodlums had become norms around the area,  without anyone challenging them.

Evangelist Banji Odesanmi , who had witnessed the activities of these hooligans said:

“My phone and my wallet were forcefully taken yesterday on my way home from vigil at 6:30am”.

With all these experiences, it has become necessary for the government to try find everlasting solution to this situation as the boxes hung at road junctions indicating that anyone should call 767 or 112 is not effective.

In fact, residents of Agege are always afraid of passing under the bridge anytime of the day especially the railway area of the bridge.
