Omowunmi, late singer Mohbad’s wife, has stated reason she would want to agree to do a DNA test.

She said that she is agreeing to do the test not to prove anything to her father in-law, but to clear the lies circulating in social media circles.

According to her, her father in-law, Joseph Aloba, is fully aware that Liam, her son with Mohbad, is indeed his grandchild.

Stating these much in interview on the pidgin service of the British Broadcasting Service (BBC), she said:

“…I want to do the DNA for the media that has been fed with lies, not my father-in-law. Because left to me, he is 101% sure that the child is his (Mohbad) son.”

“I miss my husband with everything. My child started school and they wanted to write his name.

“And they wrote to ‘Mr and Mrs Aloba’. I remember him from every angle of my life. You know I have a child for him.

Mohbad’s passing on September 12, 2023, and burial the next day, had been fraught with controversy, to the extent of the body being exhumed again on September 21, for an autopsy.

There had been accusations and counter accusations leading up to last July when a Magistrates Court, at  Ikorodu, directed both parties to explore an alternative dispute resolution.
