Here’s New Comptroller General Of Immigration, Kemi Nandap

Here is the new comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap just appointed.

Presidential spokesman, Chief Ajuri Ngelale communicated the appointment of the new CGI

“The President anticipates that the new Comptroller-General will deepen the ongoing reforms in the service and create a robust mechanism for efficient;

“…and dedicated service delivery to Nigerians, as well as strengthen the nation’s security through proactive and effective border security and migration management.”

The appointment of DCG Nandap, has been approved by President Bola Tinubu ffective March 1, 2024, but before her appointment as Comptroller-General, Nandap was the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of the Migration Directorate of the Service.

She thus rakes over from Mrs. Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, whose term in office expires on February 29, 2024.

The Eagle reports that Nandap’s appointment as new comptroller General, is coming at a time when many fear Nigerians seeking to clear their goods at the nation’s entry points ay be asked to pay more.

This is because the current administration has , in just two months of the new year, raised the Customs duties exchange rate three times.

Import duties were raised to N1,417.63 per US dollar from N1,413.62.

The upward review by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) represents an increase of N4.015 and a percentage increase of 0.28 per cent.

It is not felt in some quarters that the task of seeing to the realistion of federal goernemnt’s target warranting such upward review, would not squarely rest on the shoulders of Nandap.
