$197,000 is a whopping amount of money considering that the Naira currently exchanges at about N1, 800 per dollar, but that it what Davido, Nigerian music mega star has promised to gift a category of people.

The Afrobeat star whose full name is David Adedeji Adeleke, today announced that he would donate $197,000; £156,000 i.e about 300m Naira to orphanages in his country.

“I and my foundation pledge the sum of 300 million Naira to orphanages around Nigeria…as my yearly contribution to the nation..details of disbursement tomorrow,” Davido shared on a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday.

In fact, the darling of many music lovers in Nigeria and overseas has become synonious with philanthropic works, and he does not seem ready to stop now.

In his own case, he sometimes, goes further to involve his friends and associates to put smiles on the faces of people.

At one time, such philanthropic fundraising, garnered several millions, following his social media posts soliciting for such supports.

He was to raise the stakes further by adding his personal sums of money.
