Breaking: Chaos at MM Terminal 2 after Dana Air Cancels Flights

There was chaos at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 today, following Dana Air’s decision to cancel scheduled flights.

The cancellation which was as a result of operational challenges experienced by the airline, saw many passengers distraught.

A competent source told our correspondent that the atmosphere became charged as passengers who could not put up with what the perceived as breach of trust, protested.

“A colleague was billed to use the airline but just called to register his disappointment that the airline had disappointed” a source told The Eagle correspondent.

One of the passengers who could not bear with the cancellation were shouting on top of their voices, saying Dana was becoming very unreliable.

All these were despite the carrier’s reiterations that the passengers were not abandoned in any way but the management of the airline had actually made alternative arrangements

The Eagle reports that a related scenario played out on October 19, when some passengers of Dana Air travelling from Abuja to Port Harcourt protested delay in their airlifting.

It was to the extent that the Dana Abuja-Port Harcourt passengers refused to let the Abuja to Lagos passengers board the plane that arrived from Port Harcourt to take the Lagos passengers.

A  Punch newspaper report on the inciddnt, quoted an anonymous interview as saying: “Apparently the Port Harcourt people were supposed to leave by 8 (am).

“They’ve been delayed since then. So now a flight has come from Port Harcourt dropping Abuja people off and trying to pick up Dana passengers going from Abuja to Lagos. That’s the flight I’m supposed to take.

“So the Dana Port Harcourt passengers refused. They blocked the boarding gate. A little struggle ensued then the struggle carried on to the tarmac where our flight was blocked”, the report said.
