Rev Toks-Emmanuel, who leads Grace Missions International (GMI), Lagos, has given reasons why many ministers of the gospel today are suffering.
He provided the perspective while speaking with our correspondent in an exclusive interview, noting that many ministers struggle today because they lack proper grounding and understanding of their assignment.
“When individuals do not have the skills, expertise, and wherewithal to handle these precious things God gives them, they’re going to mess it up… they’re going to mess their own life up”, he stated.
He also addressed the issue of ministry culture and misplaced definitions of success, explaining that many ministers of the gospel measure success using worldly standards such as titles, appearance, influence, or material possessions, rather than faithfulness to God.
Misconceptions about success in ministry, he stated, could lead to imbalance and failure, whereas true success is rooted in faithfulness, even in small responsibilities.
Rev Toks-Emmanuel, who has spent more than three decades in ministry, said his experience has exposed him to the realities and pressures faced by ministers and church leaders, shaping his conviction on the need for structured training and discipleship.
He explained that his ministry, which located at the Grace Mission Teaching Centre, at Ipaja area of Lagos, exists to strengthen and equip leaders with biblical principles, spiritual understanding, and practical skills needed to serve effectively and remain grounded in their calling.
Bringing the perspectives nearer home, he said Grace Missions International is not structured as a conventional ministers’ conference that focuses only on preaching techniques, but rather as a platform for deeper understanding of God’s grace and principles.

Also, no tithes and offerings are collected from members; rather, voluntary offerings are given.
“It’s not a regular ministers’ conference where ministers learn how to preach. That is not the target, but rather it focuses on helping participants understand the principles they need to enjoy God’s grace and to be able to do what God expects of them,” he said.
He added that the essence of all teaching and preaching is transformation, saying, “Every preaching or teaching is meant to bring transformation, regardless of the audience. The goal is redemption and change, so that believers can please God and enjoy all that He has provided in Christ.”
The ministry focuses on ministers and leaders, helping them develop essential skills, understand biblical principles, and build a deeper relationship with God to fulfill their divine purpose.

Rev Toks-Emmanuel, who has spent more than three decades in ministry, said his experience has exposed him to the realities and pressures faced by ministers and church leaders, shaping his conviction on the need for structured training and discipleship.
He highlighted the activities of Grace Missions International, to include monthly ministers’ and leaders’ conferences, which he hosts every first Friday of the month, this year’s theme being “The Minister’s Faith, Family, Finance and Future”.
There are also leadership training and counseling systems aimed at strengthening ministers and leaders at different levels.
He also noted that the ministry runs The Bible Class (TBC), a non-denominational discipleship hub focused on contextual, book-by-book teaching of Scripture.
Beyond this, he reaches wider audiences through WIG Radio and Revival and Reformation TV on YouTube, where he shares teachings and ministry insights.
Currently pastoring at the Lamb Style Church, he had served as the Director of Training for the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Mosan Akinogun chapter, for four years, and presently lectures at the Apostolic Ministerial Training School, Baruwa, Ipaja, Lagos.
