There is a warning out there that iPhone Owners Should Stop Texting Android Users, but the first question is, will Nigerian phone users comply?
Whether or not, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States of America (USA), says doing so without encryption was fraught with dangers – the possibility of a cyberattack.
A Chinese hacking operation, it says, has been deployed, and eight US telecoms firms’ operations have been compromised, using a Chinese hacking operation known as “Salt Typhoon .
According to a Newsweek report, the operation accessed private text messages and phone conversations involving an undisclosed number of Americans.
It said the hackers are believed to have successfully intercepted the communications of senior government officials and high-profile political figures.

However, Neuberger said the government did not think “any classified communications” had been accessed.
It is in reacting to this, that the FBI and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) released guidance aimed at identifying the hackers and preventing future cyberattacks that may involve a huge number of iPhone and android users
Agency officials are advising Americans to stop sending texts between the two operating systems or use third-party apps with end-to-end encryption.
Their reason: Since communications between iPhone and Android users are not encrypted by default, the report added.
