First, he is accused of killing his girlfriend, Feruz Hussein, and sending out a video of her lifeless body to her distraught family.
Next, when he eventually appeared in court, another drama played out.
Nelson Ambia was caught on tape making signs at the family members amidst muttering inaudible words to them in the Kenyan court while the matter was being heard yesterday.
It’s believed that a disagreement had arisen between the couple on September 30 in their rented Sunton, Kasarani, leading to Hussein’s death.
Detectives allege that Ambia strangled Hussein and subsequently recorded a video showing her lifeless body on a bed.
A video of these was sent to late lady’s brother, sister and mother.
The video allegedly contained a man’s voice saying, “Pumzika Kwa Amani,” a Swahili expression meaning “Rest in peace.”
Hussein’s brother reportedly contacted the police, following this prompting officers to visit the couple’s residence, where they discovered her body.
The body was subsequently transferred to Kenyatta University Funeral Home for preservation and examination.
According to an investigating officer’s affidavit, an autopsy conducted on October 15 identified strangulation as the cause of death.
Ambia was arrested on October 20 at a hideout in Naivasha following a police manhunt and is facing a murder charge under Sections 203 and 204 of Kenya’s Penal Code, subject to the outcome of the investigations and the prosecution’s decision.
