A die-hard fan of popular Nigerian singer, David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has given reasons why he decided to name his new baby after the artiste.

The man, 34 year old Bakare Michael said he decided to name his son after Davido to demonstrate the love that he has for the performer.

Bakare Michael’s wife gave birth to their baby Bakare David Oluwadamilare on March 17 in Abeokuta.

And on Tuesday, the father took to his twitter handle Davido Twin @AmamaMyko, to announce his baby’s name after the singer.

Also, later, Davido via his verified handle @davido retweeted, asking the fan to “show me proof!! And I’ll make ur life a living proof that OBO DEY!!!”

The exchange trended on the social media for days as the fan subsequently posted the baby’s birthday certificate, pictures and made some videos to show Davido that he actually named his son after him.

“I have made the promise that whenever I had my first son I will name him David because of the love I have for Davido. ” It was on Tuesday. I tweeted that my wife gave birth to my first son and I named after Davido and I want my son to be successful like him. So, I tagged Davido on twitter. I tweeted around 1pm and by 11pm same day he (Davido) retweeted it. He promised that I should make a prove that I named my son David and he will make me a living proof that OBO DEY.

“And I was happy. Everybody was just congratulating me on Twitter.

I have also received a number of calls, while the story was trending on various blogs.

The fact that he retweeted alone I was happy because it showed a connection between me and him.”

“That night, he followed me immediately on twitter. I was having 107 followers before the incident, but now I have about 1,500 followers on twitter. People are still following me.” , he told a reporter of Daily Trust.

Continuing, Bakare averred:  “some people do say I have facial semblance of Davido.” “If there is anything, I want my son to be in life, I want him to be a musician.”

“Even before we got married, she (hiswife) knew I am a diehard fan of Davido and I have always told her I will name my first son after Davido.”
