It took about forty five minutes before the fire truck came, Only for them to come and say that there was no water in the truck they drove out to go and get water. Some onlookers had to try different means of fetching water to quench the fire and instead of the fire to quench, it continued spreading. It took about thirty minutes before five fire trucks came and they started trying to put out the fire. There was little coordination and they weren’t organized if not the shops wouldn’t have burnt badly and they would have been able to save some properties if they hadn’t literally taken forever to arrive.

Mrs Adekoye Oluwabukola another of the eyewitness said that she was there when the fire started  since she went there as she just returned from Ibadan to make her hair. She also said the ladies daughter was cooking rice close to the generator and the next thing they heard an explosion before she was able to run out of the shop she sustained some injuries in her arms and face she made a point that the government should make it paramount that all gas stations must have fire extinguishers.

Mr Simeon Chinedu a landlord of 5 Shonola street he said he was in his house when he heard a bang on his door only for him to open his door and he was told that there was an explosion he quickly ran to the venue of the incident and after asking some questions he was told that it was caused by someone who was trying to pour fuel in the generator without putting the generator off.
