Zuckerberg Dazes The Tech World @ Orion Smart Glasses’ Unveiling

The tech world got a prototype new bride today, at the formal unveiling of Orion Smart glasses, attest offering from Meta.

The unveiling was performed by the tech firm’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and main inspiration, Mark Zuckerberg.

He stood tall delivering a keynote at the epic event today, Meta Connect 2024 developer conference, even as he described the Orion Smart Glasses as the most advanced smart glasses in the world.

Despite still being work in progress, the eventual unveiling today of Meta’s first “true AR” prototype glasses marks another milestone in the company’s quest to offer the discerning tech market, tech products and services of real value.

The event traversed a showcase of new Meta AI features, limited-edition Ray-Ban smart glasses, and a $299 Quest 3S.

Like it is said in local parlance, it was not a just come and see event, but a come and try it out one, given the opportunity made available to those who graced the event, an opportunity to see how they fit.

But they would have to wait for as long as it would take Meta to perfect the Orion smart glasses since what the beheld was a demo.

This much was confirmed by Zuckerberg himself when he said: “I think that you need a device that allows you to send a signal from your brain to the device, even as he revealed that Meta AI already has 500 million monthly active users.

“With Orion, we are getting closer to achieving the dream of Reality Labs to create the next major computing platform that delivers a deep sense of presence, like you were right there with another person”.

Giving further credence to the point that the product would bring the virtual world into the real one, the CEO added:”This is the physical world with holograms overlaid on it,”

“For now, I think the right way to look at Orion is as a time machine.

“These glasses exist, they are awesome and they are a glimpse of a future that I think is going to be pretty exciting.”

Innovative and solution-driven products could sometimes sound like fairy taile, and so it is with Orion smart glasses, the standalone pair that are made of magnesium alloy and powered by custom silicon.

Already a statement, but Meta avers that it is finished yet, but would smaller and obviously then, more compact.

Giving the impression of a truly premium invention with capacity to change its space, the tech geek said  the display on the Orion glasses is not a regular display and that Orion glasses have been built from the ground up.

Its offerings includes tiny projectors with nanoscale components, along with custom silicon and sensors.

Like normal smart glasses, these can be controlled using voice and AI. On top of that, it will also support a neural interface, which is powered by the company’s wrist-based neural interface.

The company is said to be further optimising the Orion glasses to make them smaller and more fashionable while also focusing on manufacturing to make them more affordable. Meta will use the Orion Smart Glasses like a developer kit, mostly internally, and also to build the software around them.

The Orion glasses are made of magnesium alloy and powered by custom silicon designed by Meta. Users will be able to interact with the glasses through hand-tracking, voice and wrist-based neural interface. Meta plans to work on making it smaller, sleeker and more low-cost before releasing it to consumers later on, Zuckerberg said.
