The curtain has eventually drawn on veteran Nigerian actor and film executive, Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs.
He has just died at the age of 84, his son, Olusoji Jacobs, announced in an Instagram post on today.
According to the post: “It is with gratitude to God for a life well lived and fought, that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and uncle. The Lion of Lufodo.
“We call on all bloggers and social media influencers to respect our family’s privacy at this time.”
About Olu Jacobs
Olu Jacobs occupied a lofty place in the Nigerian hall. Though born in Egba Alake, he spent his early childhood in Kano.
There, he attended Holy Trinity School and was a member of the debating and drama societies.

His acting career was inspired after he attended an annual concert of Chief Hubert Ogunde. He was later to travel to England where he trained at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.
He was part of the cast of ‘A Taste of Honey’ at the newly opened Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, in 1972, which opened the doors for more appearances for him.
He was a known face in Nigerian acting circles and indeed the favourite of many Nollywood film patrons due to his create way of interpreting scripts.
Having starred in over 120 Nollywood films, he is in the A Class of Nigeria’s Nollywood actors.
