For the first time, famed Nigerian actress Joke Silver has come out to declare that managing her husband, Olu Jacobs in his present condition, has not been easy:
When you love someone deeply, you never really prepare for the day life decides to test that love in ways you never imagined.
Olu and I have shared laughter on stage, glory on screen, and decades of beautiful memories together. But then came this season, the season where the man who once carried the world with his voice and presence, suddenly needed to be carried himself.
There are days when my heart aches because I miss the strength he used to display effortlessly. There are nights when the silence feels heavy, and I find myself praying harder than ever before.
But love… love makes you strong.
It teaches you patience.
It teaches you devotion.
It teaches you that care is not a duty, it is an honor.

I bathe him with dignity. I hold his hands with tenderness. I laugh with him even when words fail. I dress him, I cheer him, I remind him and myself, that he is still Olu Jacobs, my husband, my friend, my life’s partner.
It’s not just about what he gave me in his prime; it’s about honoring the vow we made, for better or worse, in health and in sickness.
So when you see us smile in pictures, know that behind that smile is sacrifice, resilience, and above all, unshakable love. This journey is not about pity; it is about gratitude that I still have him here to hold, to love, and to cherish.
And if my story inspires anyone today, let it be this: true love is not tested when everything is fine. True love shines brightest when life becomes difficult.
