Ogun Incoming First Lady Mobilises Women With Promise Of Better Life

Incoming First Lady: For a long time, amiable Mrs Oyindamola Ajadi, has been playing her supportive role as a model housewife, kindhearted neighbour and entrepreneur from behind the camera.

But now, necessity is thrusting her to the frontline.

Being wife of the man widely believed to be the next governor of Ogun State, Olufemi Ajadi, who is contesting on the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Madam Oyindamola is learning fast, how to extend the frontiers of good neigbhouliness and motherliness, as circumstance is putting in her hands more responsibility.

Though she is not totally new to it, but it is taking a new dimension and Madam Oyin is already responding effectively to it.

Last Saturday, was an example, as the woman, widely perceived as the incoming First Lady, gathered her fellow women in the Ibafo neighbourhood of Ogun State, for the purpose of a mutually beneficial meeting.

It was a frank talk amongst women of the same or similar aspirations.

There, they reviewed the socio-economic situation in the gateway state generally, and agreed that things could be better for women and children, the very vulnerable members of society.

The venue of the meeting was the main hall of Grace Hotel, Ibafo Ogun State, and the women came from different wards.

Preliminaries over, Mrs Ajadi began with appreciating the womenfolk for their commitment and contribution to stabilising the society.

Against the background of the additional challenges that the hardship in the economy had foisted on women, she applauded them for their persistence, industry and commitment, still playing their roles to their children husbands and the larger society, thereby contributing to socio-economic development.

She however encouraged them not to relent: instead, as the highflying New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), especially in the state, had mapped out plans to improve their lots.

Mrs Ajadi lamented failure of the incumbent government in prioritising women issues and policies, saying this failure was putting avoidable pressure on women,

She said there would be a departure, once her husband, Olufemi Ajadi, emerged governor through their support.

The Incoming First Lady therefore encouraged them to mobilise more women and get prepared to play their part by voting NNPP in the forthcoming elections.

“I have always been in the midst of people in the grassroots, especially the women and I promise that women would not be left behind when the dividend of democracy manifests”

“Any government that builds youths and empowers the mothers has built the nation because the women are in charge of the homes which the society depends on for economic and political strength and NNPP is the only political party that has a manifesto for the youths and women,” she said.

One of the women in attendance, Mrs Omolara Johnson, in supporting Mrs Ajadi’s submissions, said she had been a beneficiary of the humanitarian gestures of Mr Ajadi, alongside many other women.

She described the politician as being worthy of the solidarity and support of other womenfolk as he would help to improve the lot of the people.

“Our Governorship candidate has done well and he would do more and better than our expectations if he wins the 2023 Ogun State gubernatorial election,” she said.

Other women who spoke to us at the event said the area needed a tested and trustworthy representative to totally change things in the area.
