Joe Biden, the Democratic Presidential candidate in the US election, has eventually made history, clinching the coveted slot by defeating sitting president, Republican’s Donald Trump.

Below are ten facts you may not have known about the new president.

Biden who won the election with total college vote of 273 against Donald Trump with 214 claimed Pennsylvania (20 college vote) in the early hours of Saturday, November 7.

Below are some facts you may not have known about Joe Biden:

• Born November 20, 1942, Biden had served as the 47th vice president of the United States in the Obama administration from 2009 to 2017.
• Also called “gaffe machine” and “sleepy Joe”, Joe Biden overcame his slutter to becoming a senator at 29, a condition he once described as the most defining thing in his life.  
• He married Neilia Biden in 1966 and stayed married to her until her death in 1972. They had 3 children together, Naomi, Robert, and Joseph III. Joe Biden later remarried in 1977, to Jill Biden, who remains his wife to this day. They have 1 child, Ashley.
• Labelled “Sleepy Joe” and accused of having dementia by his caustic opponent, in recent days Joe Biden has apparently confused his granddaughter with his long-dead son and appeared to forget Trump’s name.
• Biden suffered a serious setback on December 18, 1972, when his beautiful young wife Neilia on a Christmas shopiing with their three young children had a vehicular accident.
• The auto accident led to the death of Neilia and their infant daughter, Naomi, while his two young sons, Beau and Hunter, were seriously injured.
• The first of four siblings of an Irish-American Catholic family, Biden was born on November 20, 1942, in Scranton, in Pennsylvania.
• A teacher, a nun once made a fun of young Joe by calling “Mr. Bu-bu-bu-Biden”, which made him to leave class in shame.  His mother would not however have that, but brought him back to class with a warning to the teacher: “If you ever speak to my son like that again, I’ll come back and rip that bonnet off your head.”
• Joe Biden experienced an assassination scare on January 17, 2015, Gunshots were fired in the direction of his house, according to security agents detailed to him, who also spotted a car speeding away soon afterward.
• After series of embarrassing experiences, Joe Biden was determined to over his stutter and began by reciting Irish poetry while gazing into a mirror.
• Biden graduated 506th of 688 from the University of Delaware in Newark in 1965.
• Biden met his wife Neilia Hunter, while on Spring Break in the Bahamas in 1964, then a student at Syracuse University.
• 1972 was remarkable for Joe Biden for that was the year he won an election to become a senator for Delaware aged just 29. When his term began two months later he had just turned 30 — the minimum age to serve in the Senate under US law.
• In May 2015 was when his beloved son Beau Biden — who had also pursued a political career — died of brain cancer at the age of 46.
• But shortly before he announced the formal launch of his 2020 Presidential campaign, a number of women complained that Biden had touched them in an inappropriate and unwanted manner.
