Robbie Savage made fun of Bayern Munich’s star striker after Liverpool won the Carabao Cup, saying that “Jayden Danns has won more than Harry Kane.”

England captain Kane left for Germany in the summer of 2023 with the goal of ending his protracted search for team accolades after seeing significant silverware prove elusive during a record-breaking stint at Tottenham.

With just a few more games played, he has scored 31 goals for Bayern, but they could lose both the Bundesliga title and the German Cup. Reaching the Champions League quarterfinals is also a difficult task for Thomas Tuchel’s team.

In contrast, a collection of promising youngsters at Liverpool have already got their hands on a winners’ medal – with the likes of James McConnell, Bobby Clark and Jayden Danns figuring in the Reds’ dramatic Carabao Cup win over Chelsea that saw Jurgen Klopp having to manage an injury crisis.

Savage, a former Premier League player, has not wasted any time in pointing out that Kane currently trails players with a meagre number of professional appearances in terms of total accolades. The former Wales international stated to Planet Sport Bet: “Liverpool winning their 10th League Cup on Sunday is the greatest achievement they’ve made under Jurgen Klopp, even bigger than their Champions League victory. In the Champions League final, they were expected to win. On this occasion, with their injuries, I’d say they were near enough underdogs. I just think the fact it was against all odds, with the changes they were forced to make, and the youngsters on the pitch it really is a brilliant achievement. I think when it went to extra-time, half an hour with the players Liverpool had on, Chelsea should’ve won the game. It was the most remarkable performance by Liverpool, it epitomises everything good in a footballer, the desire shown by the lads on the pitch was excellent. Jayden Danns has won more than Harry Kane!”

Over the course of the upcoming week, Bayern will have the opportunity to maintain their aspirations of winning trophies. They travel to Freiburg in the Bundesliga on Friday, which might help them catch up to leaders Bayer Leverkusen. Next Tuesday, they host Lazio in the Champions League last-16, where a 1-0 aggregate deficit must be overcome.
