How I Hit Bike-Man With Hammer And Stole His Bike…Suspect

Azeez Abayomi,  a 19 year old native of Sepeteri Saki area of Oyo state, has narrated how he snatched a bike, after hitting the driver with a hammer.

The incident happened yesterday at the Ibafo area of Ogun state, where sympathizers collaborated with the uniformed men to arrest the suspect.

His account: ‘I obtained my education from primary to secondary school at the Community High School, Ibafo, Ogun State.”

“I live at Showo Ibafo,Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State. I learned bricklayer as a profession from my father.”

I woke up this morning around 5am and I had my intention – to snatch a motorcycle between Temidire and Adebimp.

This is the second time of snatching bikes from people and getting caught.

“Today, I picked a bike man and he agreed to drive me.”

“But on getting to a place known as sharp corner, I asked the bike man to make a you turn.”

I pretended that my slippers fell off my feet, and he turned back.

“That was when I hit him on the head with a sledge hammer twice and the man fainted.”

“I drove off with my bike but a man was coming behind and I did not know. “

“It was the man that began to shout “Ole ole ole” meaning, “thief thief thief”.

“I was arrested and banded over to the Police. It was soldiers and other people that rescued  me out from the mob”.

As at the time of this report, the victim, Abiodun Akimonju, the commercial motorcycle rider was still receiving treatment at Kingsmill Hospital, located behind Community High School.

The wife of the victim, Ikukologbo Titilayo, told The Eagle correspondent that Abiodun left home  for his daily bread  as early as 5:55am.

“Suddenly my brother Dada Ikukologbo  ran home to inform me that my husband was in a pool of blood and many people gathered on him.”

“Immediately we rushed him to the hospital emergency ward”

Our correspondent sighted serious wound and the rigorous pains from the hit on his head.

Some people in the area told us that incident of such a nature was common.  

One of them said: “We have been hearing of motorcycle theft in the community and how badly these criminal inflict body injury on their victims, this will serve as a warning to those in that line because Abayomi will have to face the law and its consequences”.

Others called security to beef up their surveillance activities.
