Facebook hacked: Thousands of Facebook users are reporting problems with the site, and many are citing a bug that causes messages from users commenting on celebrity pages to appear in their news feeds even if they don’t follow the commenter or the star.

According to Newsweek, Facebook’s Parent Company Meta explained that it was aware People are encountering troubles with their Facebook feed, but the statement made no mention of the root of the problem.

A spokesperson apologized for any inconvenience, and said site engineers were “working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”

The Eagle gathered that the vulnerability may have been caused by Meta’s recent adjustments to its algorithm, which typically filter out posts linked to popular accounts.

Facebook users who were incensed were quick to express their displeasure online, many of whom vented their frustration at the random posts that were flooding their news feeds and expressed concern that their personal accounts had been hijacked.
