Every Sunday Morning Was A Tug Of War In Our House..
Going to church every Sunday morning was really a tug of war for me as a growing up teenage girl. My mum would chase myself and my sister round the compound all to ensure we did not stay back at home.
When we failed to oblige, she would eventually go to church all by herself but then, reserved our punishment for later in the day when she must have come back.
Now, one may wonder why we refused going to church most Sunday mornings. Why was it a tug of war.
The answer is quite simple..we felt we didn’t have what wear to church h, because we were tired of repeating same clothes over again, while our friends kept appearing in new ones.

We needed to keep up our game and surprise our friends by wearing new clothes to most Sundays.
What do we do? It was a tug of war because we had to save every kobo we had, from lunch money, to transport fare and.every other little cash from errands to enable us to purchase a few clothing.
Once the purchase of new clothes was achieved, going to church became more meaningful.
My mum was surprised that she did not have to chase us to church anymore, and our friends could talk about our new dresses too.
What is there to take away from the story?
It is to show that fashion plays an important role in the lives of people, especially where there is need to go to a gathering including to church you see ,it is the sweetest when you are well dressed and your confidence is at its peak with people complementing you.
The day just seems brighter and prettier for you.

But then, what is the definition of fashion if I may ask you what you understand by the word, fashion, I am sure you will say it is the clothes we put on for modesty sake and to protect ourselves from all environmental conditions.
This meaning of fashion is long obsolete.
There is a new generation of people that fashion is the way we live and breathe. Others are of the thought that fashion encompasses many other things other than clothes and accessories
You can be fashionable in your choice of home, it’s decoration, car even the places where you eat and relax can be influenced by your fashion sense.
Does fashion only focus on women? I was reading an article online one day and I cam across one segment which says “once upon a time in the Garden of Eden, when Eve wanted a dress, Adam had to scout all the trees in the whole domain in search of the best leaves. This is to tell you the discerning taste of woman in fashion started early.
Let me paint another scenario for you: a man and his lovely wife were getting ready for an Owambe the Yoruba word for social gathering.

The woman knowing herself very well started getting ready for hours before the actual time and the man only used 3p minutes to get ready.
Despite starting earlier, the woman was still not set on time and had to after the husband because he got tired of waiting and had to drive off.
Truly, women have wahala and it could be a tug of war for them dressing up. they always have one or two things to change finally.
