This Is Chinese Wuhan – The Origin City Of The Corona Virus

You certainly have heard of the corona virus and the point that it first spread from China, but what do you know about the city that nurtured the virus?

Welcome to Wuhan, the capital of China’s Hubei province, and its largest city, the most populous in Central China blooming with a human population of over 11 million.

Historically, Wuhan is the city of the Wuchang Uprising, which led to the downfall of the Qing dynasty and the establishment of the Republic of China.

• Briefly the capital of China in 1927 under the left wing of the Kuomintang (KMT) government, it later served as the wartime capital of China in 1937 for ten months during the Second Sino-Japanese War.

• Wuhan today is considered the political, economic, financial, commercial, cultural and educational center of Central China.

• There is a reason any virus which appears in Wuhan would circulate the globe in a short while hence: it referred to as “the Chicago of China” being a major transportation hub, with dozens of railways, roads and expressways, and ultimately the other continents.

• It is nearby neighbor to the The Three Gorges Dam, the world’s largest power station in terms of installed capacity.

• Wuhan consists of three national development zones, four scientific and technological development parks, over 350 research institutes, 1,656 high tech enterprises, numerous enterprise incubators
• Historians will recall the famous Wuchang Uprising of October 1911, which overthrew the Qing dynasty; it actually originated in Wuhan.

• Before the uprising, anti-Qing secret societies were active in Wuhan, and In September 1911, the outbreak of the protests in Sichuan forced the Qing authorities to send part of the New Army garrisoned in Wuhan to suppress the rebellion.

• A survey published in 2017, shows that 79.2% of the population of Wuhan are either irreligious or practice worship of gods and ancestors; among these 0.9% are Taoists. Among other religious doctrines, 14.7% of the population adheres to Buddhism, 2.9% to Protestantism, 0.3% to Catholicism and 1.6% to Islam, and 1.6% of the population adheres to unspecified other religions
