$300, 000 California Property Looters Indicted, Face Prosecution

Property looters while fires raged in Palisades and Eaton in California have landed themselves in trouble, as they have now been formally charged.

 Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman who announced this yesterday, added:

“There have been certain people that we have given a warning to because we anticipated that this was half was going to happen, and these are the criminals,” Hochman said during a press briefing.

“These are the people who are seeking to exploit this tragedy for their own benefit.”

More worrisome is that they committed the act despite a A “no looters” sign in the area, and while the property owners had fled the area.

Three of the charged are accused of stealing more than $200,000 in property in a burglary last week at a house in Mandeville Canyon during an “evacuation situation,” Hochman said.

In a related development, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), has stepped up efforts to help victims overcome what has turned out to be a devastating experience.

It is putting up public service announcements on how victims could get succor particularly, and how others could still keep safe while resuce agencies try to contain the fires.
