What World Bank is Planning to Do in Kano State

The Director-General, Kano State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, Yahaya GarinAli, has announced that the state in collaboration with the World Bank and French Development Agency, will construct 6,300 kilometres of rural roads.

He stated this as 152 enumerators began a five-day training course on data collection, recording techniques, and RAAMP Roads features in the state.

Sunusi Suleiman, the state project coordinator, described the training as a means of meeting the World Bank’s requirements for operationalizing the use of the software created by Nigeria’s Rural Transport Infrastructure Management System, which aids in tracking the development of construction projects.

The purpose of the training, according to Suleiman, was to teach the enumerators how the NiRTMS worked by having them monitor the network of rural roads and record engineering, environmental, and social elements including schools, mosques, markets, communities, and farmland, among other things.

In a statement, Adamu Abdullahi, the development communication specialist for the RAAMP Project, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing the state’s agricultural infrastructure and access roads.

The statement in part reads: “The director-general, therefore, urged the participants to consider the assignment as their contribution to the state which requires ardent dedication and commitment to commensurate with efforts of the state government on improving the lives of the citizenry.‘’
