A release signed by Mary Omokhagbor, Coordinator, The Eagle Media Academy, says the training, aside helping existing practitioners upscale, would adequately equip fresh graduates or others migrating from other professionals, to start, secure and build a career in the vast communication world.
“It is focusing on issues and things that are critical – syndication, refuttals, position papers, in addtion to handing reviews. why for example, should a Mass Comm person or public communicator not master the art of syndication”, she rhetorically queried.
She said the training more as an intervention by The Eagle Media Academy to assist interns, real professionals, and others who desire to take firm hold of their careers in those allied fields.
“Before now, we have handled individual requests on a continuous basis, of people, who just got jobs in corporate communications and public communications related industries, but realise they could not match the skill expectations.
“We have been training such people as individuals, but then, we thought, why not a regular training that will avail all classes of professionals, the technical competence to deliver on their corporate communications tasks and tables.
“We have seen people who have impressive academic qualifications, sometimes, Masters degrees in disciples outside Mass Communication and Journalism, but have challenges with news writing and reporting, editing, promotional writing and the like; such people benefit maximally from our training: they are part of our target trainees”.
On how the academy is able to accommodate the diversity in those needing the training, she said:“We synthesise the participators and find out first, the capacity at the moment, their primary needs, and what they want to get to where they aspire to, and hamonise these with our syllabus.
“And thank God, the outcome has been impressive”.
She said aside the personal testimonies in-training, that the ability of some to secure or stabilise their engagements on account of the training, has remained source of inspration, and motivation to sustain the series.
