Huawei Nigeria has made a bold statement concerning its commitment to digitilisation in Nigeria.

This it did with the unveiling of a state-of-the-art innovation centre in Lagos, in the midst of its Huawei Day Nigeria.

With “Accelerating Industrial Intelligence” as its theme, Huawei Nigeria said the project aligns with its commitment to advancing technological development and fostering digital transformation in the country.

The facility, designed to support innovation, collaboration, and industry growth, reinforces the company’s commitment to Nigeria’s evolving tech landscape.

Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy Dr. Bosun Tijani , used the opportunity to track up on the company’s collaboration with the country.

“Without partnerships, we can’t drive innovative and modern ways of leapfrogging our economy.

“That is why, this innovation centre launched today is an important one for us as a government because it offers us the opportunity to co-create the path to our future, ensuring that Nigeria is not just a consumer of technology, but also a nation that can partner with the best companies in the world to develop technology solution that suits our needs.”

Lagos governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was represented at the event by the deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

Commending the company, he stated:  “Huawei has not only delivered on its great ambition of 25 years ago when it entered the Nigerian market but has also become an indispensable partner that is significantly contributing to the robustness of Lagos’ ICT ecosystem.”

Sanwo-Olu stated that, Lagos has successfully attracted great investment through cutting-edge technologies, and pioneering innovative solutions across various sectors over time.

This he added had created an opportunity to empower people regardless of background, to engage meaningfully in opportunities presented by technology.

The CEO, Huawei Nigeria, Chris Lu, while delivering his welcome address, commended the Federal Government for what he described as unwavering commitment to accelerating Nigeria’s digital transformation.

“Huawei had been honored to develop in Nigeria since 1999, over the past 25 years, we collaborated with industry leaders and partners in building a solid foundation of digital infrastructure.

“The Huawei Day Nigeria 2025 event ushers us into the next 25 years of Huawei in Nigeria, as well as a new AI era.”
