How Man 37, Axed His 70 Year Old Father To Death

There appears to be a spirit of violence in the air not just in Nigeria but across the entire globe, going by recent surveillance and eyewitness accounts.

The latest addition is from Anambra State where 37 year old Chigorom Ezeofor has reportedly axed his 70 year old father Mr Godwin Ezeofor, to death.

The people of Umuezegoro Kindred, Unuchiana village, Aguata Local Government Area where it happened, are still trying to come to terms with the sordid event.

The Anambra state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Mohammed who broke the shocking news in a statement in Awka said it occurred at about 8:00a.m this morning.

The Eagle sources said investigation has already begun on the matter following a report filed at the Aguata Police Station by Mr Timothy  Ezeofor, the elder brother of the deceased,

The police statement on the case stated in part: “Today, April 25 at about 9:45a.m., one Mr Timothy Ezeofor of Umuezegoro Kindred  Unuchiana Village reported at Aguata Police   Station that at about 8:am of same day, his elder brother namely Godwin Ezeofor, 70 years of the same address was allegedly murdered by his son one Chigorom Ezeofor aged about 37 years of the same address using axe.

“The complainant added that the suspect has been mentally ill for the past eight years,” the statement noted.

A team of policemen which quickly mobilized to the scene saw things by itself.

The statement said the  team was led by the Divisional Police Officer, Mr Ayeni Oluwadare, and that the deceased was later certified dead by a medical doctor in an undisclosed hospital.

It was further state that the corpse was deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.

The statement added the suspect looked insance as at the time of the report; nonetheless, he was taken away by the police.
