An unknown number of brick workers are currently trapped underground after a pit collapsed on them in the early hours of yesterday.
Villagers in Ridawa village in Ghari Local Government Area of Kano State where the tragic incident took place are still in shock.
The victims were digging out earth for the purpose of brick making when the pit collapsed on them
As at the time of this report, the status of the victims was not clear, but there were fears that worse may have befallen them where trapped underground.
However, the member representing Ghari/ Tsanyawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Sani Bala, confirmed the incident.
He also gave the number of persons believed to still be trapped underground as 10.

“We have not received any report on the incident. The Ghari office has not received a report on the incident, adding that as soon as we get details on the incident, we shall let you know,” Abdullahi said.
Abdullahi also appealed for government intervention in rescuing the trapped brick workers.
