The case involving Stephen Gathoni and his strangled 25 year old wife, Monica Njeri, 25 on the one hand, and their five year old daughter, is one that would remain the talk of the town for some time to come.
According to police, the man first strangled his estranged wife, Monica Njeri, 25, in her house on Friday dawn before leaving her body on the bed.
Not only did the daughter witness the incident but stayed with the body until morning
Local media report that the man left the body of the woman on her bed and went to his house in the Teachers area, which was about 300 meters away, and hanged himself using a rope.
The account is that the couple had been living separately due to domestic disputes, with the police in Nakuru County of Kenya currently investigating the incident
The five year old told the police that her father had visited them at night and strangled her mother using a binding wire.
A neighbour later discovered the body after visiting the house to request access to charge her Kenya Power and Lighting token meter, prompting her to alert police.

The girl then led officers to her father’s rented house, about 300 meters from the scene, where they found his body hanging on a blue rope.
Report on the matter said a suicide note and two pesticide containers branded Duo Dip and Ciper Dip were found on a table.
Both bodies were taken to the Nakuru County Morgue awaiting postmortem.
