How I Came To The Throne – Ogbuji 1 Of Ogbujioma

The Ogbuji 1 of Obujioma Autonomous Community, in Mbaitolu, Imo State,  His Royal Highness, Eze Alhaji Shitu has given a background of his ascendancy to the throne.

He gave the insight while speaking to The Eagle Editor in an exclusive interview last Tuesday.

He described it as the work of God given that he did not drag it with anybody.

“The people of this community by themselves put me on this throne.

“It i’s not about struggle, I didn’t drag the throne with anybody. That’s why I don’t have problem with anybody”..

According to him, that unique circumstance of coming on the throne by  grace, makes him to try to uphold equity and fairness while settling issues for his people.

Alhaji Shittu formerly known as Mr Kyrian Ejiogu, expressed concern over the state of insecurity in the nation generally and the involvement of youths in crime particularly.

“Sometimes, you find young people in the village that have bad character.

“When they do something wrong and you take them to the police, , the police will take bribe and release them instead of keeping them there for some time.

“It makes these youths see the traditional rulers as nothing

“So when they come back like that, they start misbehaving again”.

It for the above that he has advised his fellow Ezes to device better ways of handling issues in their domains as a way of maintaining peace

Particular youths, one of such ways is to bring them close, and to keep advising them on the danger of involvement in crime

Calling for peace in the nation, Alhaji Shitu described Nigeria as one, and that people should work with such oneness in mind.

“Both Igbos, Hausas and Yoruba; whether you are Christian or Moslem, we are one.

That’s what we keep advising, that we all are one.

“In the last day we all are looking for Ajana, paradise

“Whatever you will do in this world that will make you lose paradise is of no use”.

While praising the government for paying traditional rulers’ allowances regularly, he criticised politicians for seeking to corner every resource for themselves.
