In an unusual show of responsibility, an executive assistant to a governor has presented himself to demonstrators to be shot to protect the police he had invited to come keep order.

CP Sunday Odukoya (retd.), the Executive Assistant to the Oyo State Governor on Security, yesterday came face to face with the Yoruba nation agitators who invaded the Government Secretariat at Agodi in Ibadan.

He told them to shoot him rather than touch the police officers who came around to disperse them.

Recall The Eagle’s earlier report – The Police Lists Dangerous Weapons Recovered From Yoruba ..of the police saying the 20 suspected agitators came with dangerous weapons, three Pump Action Guns, 291 life cartridges, two expended cartridges, 67 cutlasses, five bullet proof vests, six pairs of boots, 10 megaphones (Public Address System), three Oodua styles beret caps, seven belts, 11 Oodua nation Army camouflage uniforms, one unregistered Nissan Urban Caravan Bus and three TVS motor motorcycles.

“Shoot me, don’t shoot police officers because I was the one that called them. So, you don’t need to confront them” Odukoya was seen daring the agitators in a video on the confrontation right online.

“They came here to do their official duties, just shoot me. You invaded this place. Who did you take permission from? I was talking to you, and you are talking to another person.

“This is Governor’s Office. You don’t have the right to just come in without any invitation. Can you just come to the Governor’s Office without an invitation? It is not done”, he shouted at them.

The decision of sticking out his neck and risking his life to protect the police is what many would described show of responsibility.
