Early Morning Accident Claims Two Lives On The Alagbole-Akute Road
BY ADEOLA SUNDAY
Two people have reportedly died in a road accident this morning involving a vehicle and commercial bike commonly called Okada.
The accident happened at a spot on the Alagbole-Akute link bridge, Alaghole, an Ogun State outskirt, two witnesses told The Eagle.
The two victims were the motorbike driver and her female passenger.
According to eyes witness the car was reportedly driving against the traffic, ostensibly to avoid the traffic gridlock that has become a daily occurrence on the road.
Immediately after the incident, the car was set ablaze by other motorcyclists within the neighbourhood to serve as punishment and penalty for the car owner
The remains of the deceased were taken away by sympathisers who readily gathered at the scene, our source said.
Apparently explaining the course of the accident, the source fingered the rate at which the motorist was driving, adding that the accident may have been averted.
He however bemoaned the state of the road and the fact that it had been literally abandoned after several houses and shops were demolished on the excuse that the government was set to expand it.
The sourced called on the government to quickly attend to the road to avert accidents of the nature.
In the recent, the traffic on the Alagbole-Akute road has worsened, leading to several vehicles and motorcycles trapped almost every day.
