Direct Short Service Into The Nigerian Army: Important Information
The Nigerian Army (NA) has released an important information concerning the Direct Short Service Into the Nigerian Army.
It requests successful candidates for the Direct Short Service – Course 24/2024 -into the force to report at Headquarters 2 Division Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Oyo State on 11 March 2024.
A release by the Military Secretary of the Selection Board for the Direct Short Service Into the Nigerian Army, advices candidates to report to the Selection Board on March 11, 2024 between the hours of 8am and 11am.
They are expected to appear bringing along the underlisted items:
- Writing materials including ruler and eraser.
- Three (3) pairs of plain white short sleeve vests.
- Three (3) pairs of navy blue shorts.
- Canvas shoes/trainers and whitesocks.
- Toiletries.
- A set of cutlery including plates and drinking cups.
- Beddings; to include, blankets, bedspreads and pillow cases etc.
- Four (4) copies of full size coloured photographs at standing position in suit.
According to the Nigerian Army Selection Board, the exercise would involve physical, medical and academic tests as well as an oral interview for all candidates.
“Candidates will be required to produce original and duplicate copies of the following:
- All academic/professional certificates including testimonials, NYSC discharge or valid Exemption Certificate as applicable in a file jacket”.

Other documentations required of candidates for the Direct Short Service into the Nigerian Army include Certificate of ordination for candidates seeking Chaplain(Protestant/Roman Catholic); Certificate of Call to Bar for candidates seeking Directorate of Legal Services; Valid birth certificate as endorsed by the National Population Commission, hospital and Local Government and Council of birth or valid age declaration.
They are equally expected to bring along,
-valid certificate of state of origin, Military Identity Card (military personnel only), -Letter of recommendation by Commanding Officers/Commanders (military personnel only),
-Letter of sponsorshipin tertiary academic institution (military personnel only) and printed Bank Verification Number (BVN)
-certificate authenticated by a bank as well NIN enrolment slip.
Other items which such candidates Completed copies of print outs from the DSSC portal including referee forms.
Candidates are to note that any alteration on their documents will render suchdocuments invalid.
