Martin Odegaard has issued a warning to his teammates at Arsenal regarding Harry Kane’s “respect” prior to their Champions League matchup with Bayern Munich.

After suffering a devastating loss to recently promoted Heidenheim on Saturday, Kane and Bayern enter the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal matchup with Arsenal. They were also defeated by Borussia Dortmund the previous weekend, and they will now play their first leg of the quarterfinal at the Emirates. But in his first season at Bayern, the England striker has been outstanding, tallying 38 goals in 37 games in addition to dishing out 12 assists.

As a result of Kane’s prolific season, Odegaard has warned his Gunners team-mates that they can take nothing for granted when they go up against Thomas Tuchel’s beleaguered side, who are almost certain to finish second in the Bundesliga this season, as they sit 16 points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

Odegaard was asked if Arsenal should fear Kane, and replied: “I think we should respect him, but I don’t think we should fear anyone.

“And we should focus on ourselves and the quality we have in our team, and that is all.

“[Kane is] a good player, of course, and I have played against him a few times and we know the quality he has in the box and he is also good in the link-up [play]. We are facing a good team on Tuesday.”

In his 19 career games versus Arsenal, all while representing Tottenham, Kane has scored 14 goals. Though the Gunners have won seven of those games, he has only won seven, with five ending in draws.
