Ambode Attacks Sanwo-Olu, Says He’s Unfit To Govern Lagos

Akinwunmi Ambode, Lagos State Governor, has described his rival, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as unfit for the governorship position of the state.

Ambode, made this known on Sunday afternoon when he addressed a World Press Conference in Lagos, ahead of tomorrow’s governorship primary.

Both Ambode and Sanwo-Olu are contesting under the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Ambode said his campaign group has not responded to any campaign of calumny.

“We have never responded to the campaign of calumny on social media. We have one family in APC. The aspirant being put up to compete against us is not a fit and proper person to take this job,” he said.

“I have done everything in the last three and half years to serve people selflessly and to serve the poor.

“This particular aspirant is somebody that has been arrested for spending fake dollars in a nightclub in America, and he has been detained for months.

“He doesn’t have the competence to do what he is being propelled to do. This is somebody that has gone for rehabilitation before. The records are there at the Gbagada General Hospital. We don’t want to go to far. Our leadership should have a rethink.

“I plead with our leaders to have a rethink, It is not about me, it is about the opportunity that APC has.”

Ambode is scheduled to go out against Sanwo-Olu at the independent day primary election in a make or mar contest.

The governor however failed to answer some other sensitive questions at the conference.

He however reiterated his plan to stand for democracy and uphold its values to better the lot of Lagosians.

A mammoth crowd had earlier staged a rally along the popular Ikorodu road which culminated in Alausa, Ikeja venue of the press conference.

When asked if he would fight on for the ticket of his party at the governorship primary election, Ambode said, democracy must be practiced so that the nation can have something left for the next generation.

“If we say we are democrats, let us practice democracy and its values to the end, that is what we must bequeath to the generations coming after us,” he said.

Refusing to answer the further questions, Ambode said, “These kind of questions you have asked I am not willing to answer them. The truth is that it is more about the progress and development of Nigeria, it is not about development and progress of Lagos.”

He further said, “I have done everything to make sure that those values are the values I preach and practice and God will help us.”

The governor also congratulated Nigerians on the 58th independence anniversary and prayed for a peaceful country.
