BY ODUNAYO AKINREMI
The chairman of the 2019 students’ week of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Adebayo Damilare, has appealed to the students of the institution to support the committee in terms of publicity.
Mr Adebayo also known as Black Boy made the plea while speaking with The Eagle Correspondent on the sidelines of preparations for a successful outing.
He said for now, arrangements were on course to ensure that this year’s edition of the week turned out the best, but regretted however that the level of support in the area of creating awareness was disappointing.
According to Adebayo, the students should do more if only to justify the tall reputation of the NIJ as the leading citadel for Mass Communication studies in the country.
For a start, he urged the students to make their social media active with the #tag XLR8 ‘’19 of the week.
According to Adebayo, for the first time in the history of the week, there were twenty six sub-committees mobilised from the different classes and levels of study in the school, and also to erase notion of tagging the celebrations HND II week rather than NIJ students’ week.
“And I am proud to say that even my classmates are being carried along but they are not the majority in my committees.
We want everybody to be among. Everybody paid for this, therefore my committee members cut across”.
He said aside backing from the school authority, that they were able to secure the partnership of corporate organisations like UBA, GT Bank, Coca Cola, Indomie Noodles, Etisalat and Naira Bet amongst others.
