Family of slain National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Abdulsamad Jamiu, has stated that soldiers killed the youth corper by firing at him through a closed door.
They have thus rejected the Nigerian Army’s narrative that Jamiu was a casualty of a crossfire during an operation in Abuja.
These the family stated in a statement, calling for an independent investigation into the matter.
The family’s reaction followed an official account by the Guards Brigade Quick Response Force on the death of corps member following their operation in Dei-Dei, Shagari Estate.
“The shot was fired from outside the room, through a closed door,” the family stated, wondering why no suspect had been identified, no weapon recovered and no evidence presented to support claims of an exchange of fire.

“No such adversary has been identified, produced, or accounted for,” the family said.
Refuting assertions of a robbery incident in the area that night, the family stated that soldiers entered the premises by scaling the fence, even as they added that evidence of damaged barbed wire remained visible at the scene, while the main gate was left untouched.

They held that Jamiu’s sister was inside the house at the time and rushed out after hearing the gunshot, but was allegedly told by soldiers to go outside and remain calm.
Amidst other weighty allegations, they are thus calling on the authorities to commence an immediate independent investigation into the circumstance of killing of their son, Abdulsamad Jamiu.
meanwhile, there are indications that Abdulsamad Jamiu, popularly known as Kesh, had lived in the apartment for several years before the incident that claimed his life.
Family members state that he had thought that it was armed robbers that stormed his residence.
The tears have continued to flow, even as relations say the young man had recently been retained at his place of primary assignment and was due for his passing-out parade next month, was killed in the early hours of Saturday
