The Police is your friend it is usually said around here, not only in the area of helping to foist attacks of criminals, but in consoling bereaved people when the situation arises..

The Katsina command did prove the assertion of how police is your friend earlier today,

It presented cheques valued at N54.5million to families of 27 police officers and men who died in active service.

The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, Mr Shehu Umar-Nadada, presented the cheques, saying the gesture was under the auspices of the Inspector General (IGP’s) Family Welfare Insurance Scheme

He commended the IG, Usman Baba Alkali, for this gesture of consoling dependents of deceased colleagues particularly, and in  improving the welfare of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force generally. through such schemes.

The commissioner urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money for their betterment.

The obviously appreciative beneficiaries also commended the police for the gesture.

Speaking up on the matter, on behalf of all the beneficiaries, Bilkisu Ma’aruf, expressed gratitude to the police force, the Inspector-General of Police.

According to her, the money would be judiciously deployed for the purpose for which it had been given.
