The alarm bell is ringing on men of the Lagos Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), this time from a middle aged woman, a caterer by occupation.

She was particularly aghast how Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officials’ operation by Fagba junction last Friday allegedly caused a traffic snarl by the junction.

In fact, the gridlock was worsened by the biting sun, that saw the inside of the Keke Maruwa heading from Giwa bus stop, an Ogun outskirt down to Ogba, oozing out heat like a bread oven.

Many people were cursing what must have been responsible for the standstill down from Ishaga.

By the time, the Keke Marwa reached the junction, behold it was the men of the LASTMA, in their number, parading from one place, to another, accosting this driver and waving down another.

The bus stop was in a kind of chaos, and the occupants, sweating from the heat, and obviously running late were bitter.

“This country don spoil”, the woman cursed, incensed by the scenario. “I no surprise. I no say la LASTMA?

“LASTMA”, yours sincerely put in

“Yes, you no see them everywhere, stopping motor and keke anyhow, collecting money.

“For Ajayi Road, nko? Nothing wey LASTMA no dey collect for Ajayi Road”.

“Plantain o, busicuit, pure water, na everything LASTMA dey collect”, she inferred, adding that she was a daily witness to the activities of the traffic cotrollers from her shop located in the area.

“Some shops wey dey Ajayi Road, LASTMA dey come hide things there, wey they collect. Pure Water, Biscuit O, Plantain chips, anything, you go see am there”, she said assuredly.
