Youth Corper Leaves Moral Lesson At Vocational Graduation Ceremony

For a Nigerian Youth Corper, it was just like acting out Ecclesiastes 9:10, which  says: Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Not only did he latch unto an opportunity that presented itself in the course of his service year, but succeeded in making the most of it. Now, he is the recipient of commendations.

Sanusi Kasimu Giwa had, two years earlier opted to being trained while still an undergraduate.

This he did, ignoring the inconveniences and hurdles in combining academic work and strenuous plumbing activities that involved- digging, cracking of walls and installing of underground pipes.

His determination soon paid off, as he  acquired and added a vital and notable skill in the world of hydrosphere to his advantage.

Speaking at his graduation ceremony held on 16th of December, he recalled how family members, friends, neighbors and colleagues had disdained him during the days of training.

He also faced a lot of discouragement health wise and financially.

Thus, the huddles included hunger, financial constraint and ill-health, that he was at the verge of giving up, but he courageously marched on after observing the economic downturn in the country.

Meanwhile, his boss and trainer in person of Mr Jimoh Sikiru J. who is an expert in domestic plumbing and The CEO of Achiever Tech Plumbing Works advised the graduand not to give in, but to embrace honesty, humility and morality as watchwords. 

He further stressed the importance  of diligence and discipline, to artisans who want to soar high in the plumbing vocation

His eventual graduation provided a good ground to moralise to others.

In the same vein, his boss sternly warned the graduand never to be intimidated as a plumber but rather to endeavour to make clients happy by meeting their needs.

He stressed the importance that people placed on access to clean potable water.

The event was graced by friends and well wishers, including the trainee’ s landlady.

The woman, Mrs Ifeoluwa Fayankinnu said she was motivated to grace the occasion, considering the challenging lifestyle of the corps member in question.

Though modest, the graduation left a moral lesson, not only for those who graced the occasion but to corpers elsewhere, the importance of making every opportunity that comes their way to count.
