Your Party Has Failed In All Aspects, Douye Diri told

Your party has failed in aspects of governance, Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers Dr Dennis Otiotio, has told the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) led government in the state.

Dr Otiotio, who spoke to journalists in the state said it was something of a regret that the mandate freely given to Governor Douye Diri and the party in the state, was being squandered at the expense of good governance.

He said this has led in part, to small businesses closing shop and leaving the state in droves.

Using recent poverty ranking as illustration, he said it was unfortunate that Bayelsa State, amongst the states receiving the highest oil derivation revenues could be listed as the second most poorest states.

Notwithstanding this, he added, the members of PDP were applauding the mediocre performance of the Diri administration without considering the funds at its disposal and comparing notes.

“PDP people think that Douye Diri is trying. What is he trying with the billions that come to the state? He is a failure. Douye Diri has failed in all ramifications and in all aspects of governance”, Otiotio said.

Wondering why people were over excited over the overhead bridge the government built calling flyover, he wondered what they would say getting out of Bayelsa and seeing what other governors have done in such places as Port Harcourt, Calabar or Kano.

Accordign to him, the people of the state needed water, housing and light, and the government had not provided these.

Even the Judges quarters that the past Seriake Dickson government commissioned was currently being remodelled and passed off as a new project, Otiotio worried.

“It is all deception. He is just deceiving the people.

“Are you not surprised that every house in Bayelsa must dig borehole. Even the Ministry of Water Resources relies on cart-pushing water vendors for water supply.

“And then you come and tell us there is governance. When you want to measure performance, we should be able to look at the critical sectors,” the APC chieftain said.

Addressing the governor therefore, Otiotio declared: Your government has failed.
