Xavi Pledges ‘Football War’ Ahead of PSG UCL Second Leg Clash

Xavi, the manager of Barcelona, has encouraged his team to play attacking football against PSG in an attempt to secure a position in the Champions League semifinals.

In the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal matchup against PSG, Barca finds itself in a commanding position. Following their thrilling victory at Parc des Princes the previous week, the Blaugrana now lead the tie 3-2. Xavi also assured everyone that his team would not want to coast into the lead.

Xavi pledged an attacking approach from his team during a pre-match press conference: “What we want is to take the ball away from PSG and then go to attack. As I said, it will be a massive football war. We are a goal ahead and that’s great, but for me, the most important thing is that we found confirmation that we are ready to compete against one of the best teams in the world. That was very important for us as a club.”

For the first time in five years, the Blaugrana are quite likely to make it to the Champions League semifinal. For Xavi’s team, who are eight points behind the leaders in La Liga with seven games left, it would seem to be the most apparent path to victory.

On Tuesday night in the Champions League, the Blaugrana will play PSG. Next up for them is the second league Clasico of the season, which will take place at Santiago Bernabeu. If they triumph there, they might stay in the running for the championship and close the gap to their fiercest competitors by five points.
