Wale Olomu Memorial Awards and Roundtable (WOMA-R) will return in December 2026, with discussions focusing on the benefits of Afrobeats’ global success and recognition for industry professionals.
The fourth edition of the event will be held on two Saturdays, with the Roundtable scheduled for December 12 and the Awards ceremony on December 19.
According to a press statement issued by the organisers on October 30, this year’s programme will be held under the broad theme, “Celebrating the People Behind the Glory.”
The Roundtable will address the question, “Afrobeats Is Bigger Than Ever – But Are the People Behind the Music Getting Their Fair Share?”
The 90-minute discussion, to be hosted on The Vintage Talkshow on TopRadio 90.9 FM, will bring together experienced professionals from different areas of the music industry to examine the people and processes behind successful Nigerian music.
In addition the conversation will focus on issues including music ownership, royalties, publishing, contracts and the changing economics of an industry whose international profile has continued to grow.
It will also examine the contributions of producers, songwriters, managers and other creative professionals whose work often receives limited public recognition despite their roles in the music industry.
Further more, the Awards ceremony will honour the memory of late entertainment journalist and editor, Wale Olomu, by recognising living practitioners whose contributions to Nigerian entertainment may not have received adequate public attention.
The initiative draws inspiration from Olomu’s reportorial philosophy of identifying, appreciating and promoting individuals whose work and achievements might otherwise remain overlooked.
Now in its fourth edition, WOMA has recognised notable figures across different generations and sectors of Nigerian entertainment.
Its Special Recognition and Lifetime Achievement categories extend beyond prominent performers to include professionals and creative talents who have contributed to the industry’s growth.
The 2026 programme will combine live radio, digital participation and the conversational format that has distinguished the Roundtable and Awards since their inception. And this year’s events are supported by the Dayo Olomu Foundation and Angel of Hope.
