Why I Am Leaving NNPP For PDP – Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi

Entrepreneur and high rising politician from Nigeria’s southwest, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has effected a membership switch in political affiliation.

He has left the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in a move set to attract great premium to Nigeria’s leading opposition party.

An outstanding personality and performer, Ambassador Ajadi brought so much presence to the NNPP these past three years, but says, his latest move is in want of a more strategic place towards the rebuilding of the country’s unity and progress.

He made the announcement on Sunday during a media briefing to announce his formal withdrawal from the NNPP.

He had indicated his resolution to leave the party in a formal letter addressed to the NNPP Ward Chairman for Obafemi Owode Local Government, in Ogun State.

He said the decision to move followed a dispassionate assessment of the situation on ground, vis avis his political aspirations and determination to impact lives beginning from his region.

“My decision to join the People’s Democratic Party is both strategic and patriotic.

“It is borne out of my desire to bring real value to Nigerian lives, my constituency and my country”, he said, adding:

“I have great respect for the NNPP and what it stands for, and this is the reason I put in my all towards building the party all these years.

“But with what is on ground, it is indeed time to move”.

Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi was the NNPP governorship candidate in Ogun State during the 2023 general elections after stepping down as a presidential aspirant in solidarity with Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who later became the party’s presidential candidate.

He had, until the latest development, remained steadfast in the party, becoming one of its most respected personalities.

“There is no bad blood between me and my former party

“I remain grateful for the opportunity to have served under its banner. However, as Nigeria continues to grapple with economic hardship, unemployment, and leadership challenges, it is time for like-minded patriots to close ranks and rebuild trust in governance”, he said.

Political observers now see Ajadi’s defection as one of the most realistic and strategic realignments in the south west region especially against the backdrop of the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.

He would be bringing over to the PDP, unmatchable loyalty and commitment, with a strong political following cutting across the critical age ranges.

This he has built over the last three years, having been in the forefront of the quest for true democracy, press freedom, as well as full integration of women and youths in governance.

An efficient manager of men and materials, Ambassador Ajadi has a tall reputation in philanthropy, predicated as it were in his very accommodative spirit.

Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi is a multi-disciplinarian, who aside of politics, has stakes in manufacturing, records label management, property business and sports promotion.
