Who is responsible for the stabbing to death of a chairmanship aspirant for the All Progressives Congress in Jeremi Ward 10 (III), Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Jeremiah Oghoveta.

This is the big question which the police would be seeking to unravel henceforth.

However, news reaching The Eagle indicates the politician was allegedly stabbed to death by a younger brother of a party leader in the state.

The death of Oghoveta, who we learn was in his late 30s, has stirred worry within political circles in the state, and beyond, especially given the nationwide ward congress of the APC holding near God’s Grace Ministry at Okwagbe Town.

The party had prepared all week for the congress hoping that all would be hitch-free, but this latest incident had dashed such hopes.

In nearby Delta, the APC, leader there, Chief O’tega Emerhor, had earlier called on party faithful  to conduct themselves peacefully, urging them to see the exercise as a brotherly contest,

Equally in LAgos, the State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi has urged members of the party to eschew all form of violence in the interest of peace in the State.

Speaking while addressing leaders of the party in Lagos, Mr. Imohimi said it was important for them to impress it on their members to strictly adhere to the rules of engagement, warning that any act of violence, harassment or break down of law and order would not be tolerated.

It was a shock therefore that the Ward 10 incident would happen.

Although our correspondent is awaiting response from the party’s hierarchy, the issue of why the man was stabbed remains unclear, but we would fill in the gaps as soon details on the incident emerges.
